Call for Donation: Emergency Relief for Displaced People in Cambodia

.
Military clashes in the Cambodia - Thailand border region in May 2025 escalated in July into a conflict that drew in civilians. In October, a peace agreement was reached, raising hopes for de-escalation.
.
However, on December 7, rocket attacks by the Thai military into Cambodian territory and airstrikes by fighter jets resumed. The damage has spread across seven provinces bordering Thailand and even to areas more than 50 kilometers from the border, resulting in civilian deaths and injuries, the loss of houses and farmland, and the destruction of markets, bridges, schools, and other infrastructures.
.
The number of people who have fled their homes and are sheltering in evacuation camps has reached 630,000, the worst situation since the end of the Cambodian civil war in 1993.
.
As part of its initial emergency response, FIDR delivered rice, seasonings, canned food, dried noodles, soap, shampoo, and clothing to refugee camps in Banteay Meanchey Province and Battambang Province from 17 to 19 December. Other various forms of assistance have also begun to arrive from the Cambodian government, NGOs, as well as domestic companies and individuals.
.
.
However, our field survey revealed that the situation surrounding displaced people has been extremely severe.
.
・Disparities in aid distribution depending on the size and location of evacuation camps, resulting in some places receiving a bulk of supplies while others receive less
・Prolonged displacement leading to physical and mental exhaustion, worsening nutrition and health conditions, and delays in children’s education
・Concerns about a gradual decline in domestic support campaigns
.
To provide effective assistances that address unmet needs and new challenges arising from prolonged displacement, FIDR continues assessments and plans to implement emergency support starting from late January onward.
Updates on conditions in the evacuation camps and the progress of our relief activities will be provided on our website.
We sincerely ask for your cooperation and support for the emergency relief fund for the displaced Cambodian people.
